Associate Veterinarian

Animal Medical Center of Louisa is adding an Associate DVM to our busy and thriving Veterinary Practice! This opportunity is open to candidates who have graduated from an accredited Veterinary school and qualify for or already possess licensure in the state of Virginia. Candidates with the following knowledge, skills and abilities are encouraged to apply!

Qualifications

Both experienced DVMs and new graduates are welcome! To assist us in taking excellent care of our patients, you should have the following education, experience, and qualities:

  • Graduation from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Program.
  • License to practice Veterinary Medicine in the state of Virginia, or qualify for licensure.
  • A positive, friendly demeanor is a must! The team will look to you for leadership and you will be depended upon to help uphold our professional standards and integrity as well as support and participate in our positive practice culture.
  • Be knowledgeable and skilled in the practice of veterinary medicine and general soft tissue surgery
  • Possess excellent marketing skills to justify and encourage diagnostic and treatment plans for patients and embolden follow-through by clients.
  • A team oriented mind-set with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Continued interest in your professional growth, the growth and success of the practice.
  • An educational approach to client communication. The more our clients know – the better care they can take of their pets!
  • An interest in practicing integrative medicine, or bringing a personal specialty to our patients is encouraged. If you would like to treat exotics, chickens, practice acupuncture or any special interest we would like to entertain it!

Compensation & Benefits

  • Tuesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00am – 7:00pm

We are all about flexibility! Our staff enjoys a 4 day & 4 and 1/2 day rotating work week! This means you get a 3 day weekend every other week! No emergency work is required as our emergencies are supported by multiple nearby emergency and specialty centers.

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Animal Medical Center of Louisa is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our thriving practice! This role is integral to ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care and that our clients feel supported every step of the way.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians in exams, surgeries, dental procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia under the direction of a DVM.
  • Monitor patients, including anesthesia monitoring, pain management, and recovery.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, run diagnostics, and record results.
  • Educate and support clients in proper pet care, treatment plans, and preventive medicine.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked hospital environment.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for assistants and support staff.

Qualifications

We’d love to meet you if you have:

  • Current licensure as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Virginia (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Strong technical skills in anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Compassion for pets and their people, with a focus on client education.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to continued learning.

This position blends front desk client service responsibilities with hands-on support for our veterinary team. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and ready to contribute to a positive and professional work culture.

Responsibilities

In this hybrid role, you’ll be trusted to:

  • Welcome clients and patients, check them in, and manage scheduling.
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and provide client education and support.
  • Handle payments, invoices, and maintain accurate client records.
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Help with patient restraint, cleaning, stocking, and preparing exam rooms.
  • Be an active participant in creating a friendly, efficient, and client-focused environment.

Qualifications

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Prior customer service or receptionist experience (veterinary or medical preferred).
  • Comfort working with animals and a genuine love for pets and their people.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills in a fast-paced setting.
